New World Consumer Products, through its emerging portfolio of patented products and technologies, is bringing the science of human nutrition and carbohydrate metabolism to high performance athletes. Our flagship product, XRCELTM, is a scientifically-advanced sports performance fuel based on patented formulation technology developed by New World Pharmaceuticals, LLC.

With strong investment in the science of performance-based nutrition, guided by a leadership team of executives and university scientists with extensive operating and board-level experience in the pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries, New World Consumer Products will continue to develop breakthrough products that improve performance and endurance for work, play and sport.

The company's corporate headquarters are located in historic Charleston, South Carolina.







Our Leadership


Frederick A. Sexton

President & Founder

Mr. Sexton has more than 30 years of experience in the international pharmaceutical industry. Specifically, Mr. Sexton has experience, as a key executive, in the start-up and running of specialty pharmaceutical companies (Kos Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as SR VP Technical Operations and Product Development, Aeropharm Technology as Executive VP & General Manager and IEP Pharmaceutical Devices as President) and the turn-around of a mid-sized privately held pharmaceutical company (Purdue Pharma L.P. as Sr. VP Technical Operations – responsible for Non-Clinical Research & Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality).


In addition to this experience, Mr. Sexton has an additional 15 years domestic and international experience in various Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality roles in large Pharma companies, including Wyeth and Boehringer Ingelheim.


Mr. Sexton is also a Founding Partner of ProtecRx, a smart card technology company focused on the development of novel technology platforms and business solutions for the healthcare industry.
Mr. Sexton is a member and Managing Director of the Board of Directors for Coldstream Laboratories, and a Board Advisor to CheckPoint Card Technologies. He is a former Board Member of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers, and Clarkson University School of Arts & Science Advisory Board.


Mr. Sexton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 from Clarkson University.
He has numerous issued and pending patents in the field of drug delivery, diagnostics, and Healthcare information management.







Ed Haug, J.D.

General Counsel Advisor

Mr. Haug is a Founding Partner, and Managing Partner since 2003, of Frommer Lawrence & Haug LLP. He has been engaged in litigation and counseling involving diverse aspects of intellectual property and competition law for many of the world's leading companies. He litigates in complex technical fields, including pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, semi-conductors and associated manufacturing equipment, shape memory alloys, e-commerce, automotive designs and consumer electronics. He also counsels clients regularly in due diligence investigations.


Mr. Haug is nationally recognized as a trial lawyer, and consultant, specializing in pharmaceutical patent litigation under the Hatch-Waxman Amendments to the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act. He has represented clients involved in patent enforcement, as well as regulatory and patent challenges involving many of the world's largest selling pharmaceuticals including Zantac, Paxil, Prozac, Omeprazole, Megace, Adderall XR, Neurontin, EPO, Trovax, Oxytrol, Carbatrol, and Duoneb.


Mr. Haug has substantial experience in both bench and jury trials as well as appellate practice. He has also been involved in proceedings before foreign jurisdictions including, the UK High Court, the German Federal Supreme Court, and the Tokyo High Court.


Mr. Haug has been listed in the New York Super Lawyers 2008 through 2010 Metro Editions and been a regular faculty member of the Practicing Law Institute, teaching all aspects of trial advocacy in patent cases. He is also a frequent lecturer for many professional organizations and has been a keynote speaker for the Bear Stearns HealthCare Conferences in New York, London, Paris, and Zurich. He recently was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Federal Circuit Bar Association.







Juan C. Mejia

Advisor

Mr. Mejia is President and owner of Product Technology Corporation (PROTEC). PROTEC engages in the sale of products, materials, and equipment used in the manufacturing of secure and non-secure plastic cards. Mr. Mejia has over 25 years experience in the industry.


Mr. Mejia moved, in 1983, from Columbia, South America to Boston where he attended the University of Massachusetts and Harvard University Extension School. In 1992, shortly after the inception of PROTEC in Boston, MA, Mr. Mejia relocated to New Jersey and formalized the company as Product Technology Corporation.

Mr. Mejia has ownership interests in two other industry-related companies: Procard Products, LLC and CheckPoint Card Technologies, LLC.








Mark Schmidt

Advisor

Mr. Schmidt retired from BNSF Railway following a 38 year career that included directing Strategic, Capital and Capacity Planning efforts for the railway, as well as managing the Industrial Engineering Group. In his last position with BNSF, Mark oversaw BNSF's relationships with short line relations, which touched $2.9 billion of BNSF's freight revenues in 2010.


Mr. Schmidt is currently consulting with several railroad companies and spends the majority of his time managing operations for the production of table grapes in the San Joaquin Valley of California.


Mr. Schmidt received a BSME from the University of Missouri – Rolla in 1973 and a Master's degree of Management from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in 2000. Mark also received an honorary degree in Engineering from the University of Missouri in 2004. He currently serves on the Board of the National Kidney Foundation of North Texas and serves on several local management boards and committees.







Michael W. Sexton

Advisor

Mr. Sexton has over 30 years experience in manufacturing and operations management with strong technical, interpersonal and conceptual skills, and a proven track record of managing day-to-day operations of highly leveraged manufacturing facilities. He specializes in distressed turn-around situations with a history of successfully delivering highly profitable returns in short periods of time.


Mr. Sexton received a B.S. Degree in Engineering Management from Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY and a Master's degree of Management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.


He is the owner and President of Piedmont Bushings and Insulators, LLC and F4U Consulting. Previously, he held positions as General Manager LRC Electronics, a Division of Thomas and Betts, and VP of Operations at Diamond Communication Products.


Mr Sexton is a member of the Board of Directors National Kidney Foundation and Board of Directors National Kidney Foundation of South Carolina (past President). He is also a member of the Board of Directors Carolina Country Club (past President) and a senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.







Timothy S. Tracy, PhD

Science Advisor

Dr. Tracy is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Dean of the College of Pharmacy, University of Kentucky. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University, a Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacy from Purdue University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at the Indiana University School of Medicine.


The focus of Dr. Tracy's research program is on the pharmacogenetics, kinetics and modulation of cytochrome P450-mediated drug metabolism, including drug interactions involving this enzyme system. In addition, he has conducted research on agents that either utilize or act on the glucose transporters and other drug and nutrient transporters in the body.


Dr. Tracy has authored more than 100 articles and chapters and edited two books. Particularly relevant to his work with New World Consumer Products are his two books, Dietary Supplements: Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacology of Herbal Products, and his evaluated studies on the use of natural products and dietary supplements in enhancing exercise performance and treatment of various human conditions.


Dr. Tracy currently is principal investigator on two grants and co-investigator on a third grant from the National Institutes of Health. He also serves as Associate Editor of Drug Metabolism and Disposition as well as on the editorial board of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.







Robert Ziek

Supply Chain and Product Development Advisor

Mr. Ziek has over 30 years of Consumer Products experience in large company and entrepreneurial environments, including significant executive experience. His career experience and accomplishments include being Co-Founder of Changing Paradigms, a consumer packaged goods company focused on retailer and licensed brands, along with serving as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President for Operation and R&D. In these roles, Mr. Ziek led all supply chain and development functions and helped grow the company to over $65M, leading to a successful exit in 2003.


Prior to Changing Paradigms, Mr. Ziek was Director of Product/Process Development for Drackett Company, a $600M division of Bristol Myers Squibb, where he led a professional staff of 42 and was responsible for applied and new product development for about $300M of business and for emerging technologies and process development for the division – leading to a significant stream of new products, cost savings, and line extensions. Mr. Ziek began his career at P&G in products research and process development, where he was instrumental in the development and launch of its ultra line-up of detergents.


More recently, Mr. Ziek has been the President of ZSOURCE, Limited, an innovation and NPD consulting firm which identifies and develops innovative new products and strategic technologies for several clients in the consumer products industries. In addition, he is an advisor and investor for several privately held start-up companies.


Mr. Ziek received a BSChE from Clarkson University in 1978, and a Master's degree in Business Administration with a Marketing Concentration, from Xavier University in 1983.


Mr. Ziek is a member of the Clarkson University Board of Trustees, is Marketing/Communications Chair for Temple Shalom Board of Trustees, he sits on the Purdue Music Organizations Advisory Board, and is chair of the Dean's Leadership Council for The Coulter School of Engineering at Clarkson.
